Bernie Sanders to Stream on Twitch with Pokimane and Valkyrae

Bernie Sanders, 83-year-old Vermont Senator, is set to join top Twitch streamers Pokimane and Valkyrae on Tuesday night to discuss politics as the 2024 presidential race heats up. He’ll be advocating for Vice President Kamala Harris while discussing key issues like minimum wage and climate change, aiming to engage younger voters through the popular streaming platform.

In a statement to The Washington Post, Sanders emphasized the importance of Democrats not conceding online spaces to the far right, which has effectively used non-traditional platforms to gain influence. He stressed that if the Democratic Party wants to maintain support from young Americans, it must address issues that resonate with them. The live stream will air at 7:30 p.m. ET, co-hosted by Pokimane and Valkyrae, who collectively have over 20 million followers on Twitch.

Sanders first launched his own Twitch channel in 2019 during his presidential run, though he’s been less active on the platform since. Pokimane, however, has experience hosting political figures, including a widely viewed stream with Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez in 2020, which attracted over 430,000 viewers during a session of Among Us.
