Haliey Welch, known for her association with the Hawk Tuah meme coin, has responded to the recent reported class-action lawsuit filed by investors claiming they were victims of a rug pull. The project, which launched in early December, quickly saw its value plummet, sparking allegations that the creators mass-sold their tokens for a profit.

In a statement shared on Twitter/X, Welch expressed her commitment to resolving the situation. She said she was “taking this situation extremely seriously” and was cooperating with the legal team representing affected investors. Welch also provided a link for those impacted to contact one of the law firms involved in the lawsuit.

A spokesperson reportedly said that Welch did not create the $Hawk project and had no control over what happened. According to the spokesperson, she received an initial sponsorship fee, but there were no guarantees of further profits. The spokesperson added that the people behind the project exploited Welch’s viral popularity to launch the coin.

This is the first time Welch has addressed the controversy since the project’s launch on December 4. Despite the legal issues surrounding $Hawk, she reportedly plans to continue with her podcast, Talk Tuah with Haliey Welch, after clearing up the misunderstandings about her involvement.
