McDonald’s Turns to AI to Boost Efficiency

McDonald’s is rolling out AI upgrades across its 43,000 locations to enhance the customer and employee experience. The changes include AI-driven drive-thrus, smart kitchen equipment, and tools for managers to ensure order accuracy and predict equipment failures. The goal is to reduce wait times and boost efficiency.

To make this happen, McDonald's teamed up with Google Cloud in late 2023 to increase processing power at each restaurant through edge computing. This allows data to be processed on-site, making it faster and more cost-effective. Suppliers have also begun installing sensors on equipment to provide real-time performance data.

YouTuber Brux Remakes GTA Inside Fortnite

A clip of Grand Theft Auto remade in Fortnite has gone viral, showcasing some wild creativity. Using Fortnite’s tools, YouTuber Brux creates a GTA-inspired scene, complete with a car chase, a roof jump, and a shootout with the police. The details give it away—Brux uses a Fortnite handgun, and the familiar blue shield popup appears when a shot lands. To top it off, a police officer builds their way onto the roof, making it clear this is all Fortnite.

The clip highlights how Fortnite’s recent updates have taken player creativity to new levels, with Rockstar even reaching out to creators about future plans for GTA Online. While some may think it’s a GTA 6 sneak peek, it’s just another clever fan-made creation.

Southwest Airlines Cancels Free Checked Luggage Perk

Southwest Airlines is ending its decades-long policy of free checked bags, introducing a fee for most passengers starting May 28. Travelers who aren’t in the top tiers of Southwest’s Rapid Rewards program, don’t buy a business class ticket, or don’t hold the airline’s credit card will have to pay for checked luggage. While the exact fees haven’t been disclosed, the airline aims to attract new customers and increase profitability.

This follows a recent change where Southwest announced it would abandon its open-boarding policy after 50 years. Starting next year, passengers will be assigned seats, signaling a shift in the airline’s approach to customer service.

Pokémon Go to Be Sold to Monopoly Go Maker Scopely

Hasbro

Niantic has announced that it will sell Pokémon GO to Scopely, a video game developer and publisher. The deal marks a major shift for the popular 2016 mobile game, with Niantic’s Ed Wu expressing confidence that the partnership will benefit the game’s future. He believes Pokémon GO will thrive under Scopely, continuing its mission of encouraging exploration and real-world Pokémon discovery for years to come.

Along with Pokémon GO, Scopely will also take over Niantic’s other games, including Pikmin Bloom, Monster Hunter Now, and companion apps like Campfire and Wayfarer. Despite the sale, Niantic will maintain its decade-long partnership with The Pokémon Company, ensuring continuity for Pokémon GO’s mission and ongoing development.
