Sidemen's First Charity Match at Wembley Raises £4.7M

The sold-out Sidemen FC charity match at Wembley Stadium raised an impressive £4.7 million for charities, including BBC Children in Need. With 90,000 tickets selling out in just three hours and over 8 million viewers tuning in online, the event nearly doubled last year’s £2 million total. Benefiting charities also include Bright Side and M7 Education, supporting equal opportunities and education.

In a thrilling match, Sidemen FC, captained by Miniminter, faced the YouTube Allstars, led by IShowSpeed. After a high-scoring 9-9 draw at full-time, the YouTube Allstars clinched victory in a tense penalty shootout. The game featured star appearances from MrBeast and halftime performances by AJ Tracey and KSI, making it a memorable event for fans worldwide.

Harry Potter Series Finds Its Professors Snape and McGonagall

Empire Magazine

HBO’s Harry Potter TV series is coming together, with key casting choices gaining attention. Following John Lithgow’s casting as Dumbledore, reports suggest Janet McTeer is in talks to play McGonagall, while Paapa Essiedu is set for Snape. Both actors bring award-nominated experience, with McTeer known for Albert Nobbs and Tumbleweeds, and Essiedu acclaimed for I May Destroy You.

While HBO hasn’t finalized contracts, speculation is mounting as the series gears up for production. Set for a 2026 or 2027 release, the show aims for a decade-long run, offering a deeper adaptation of J.K. Rowling’s books. Filming is expected to begin later this year.

FragPunk Surges on Steam as Player Count Doubles

Bad Guitar Studio

FragPunk had a slow start on Steam, with just 22K peak players in its free beta and 54K at launch. However, instead of the usual post-launch drop, the game’s player count has surged past 100K within days, an unusual trajectory for a free-to-play title. Mixed early reviews from beta players have since improved, and momentum continues to build.

The game, a tactical shooter blending Valorant and Counter-Strike with arcade-style mechanics, has seen rising interest, partly fueled by major streamers. With peak Twitch viewership nearing 200K and strong word-of-mouth, FragPunk is proving to be a breakout hit.

Hasbro's New Monopoly Version Doesn't Have Money

Hasbro

Hasbro is releasing Monopoly App Banking, a new version where a mobile app manages all transactions, replacing cash and the banker. This version simplifies the game for younger players and reduces cheating but shifts away from traditional gameplay. The game will launch in August 2025 for $24.99, with the app free but requiring players to use their own device.

The updated board features kid-friendly properties like a rocket launch pad and moon, replacing Park Place and Boardwalk. Players scan cards with the app, which automates purchases and rent payments. While this may not suit those using Monopoly to teach math, Hasbro promises faster gameplay, making it more efficient and fun.
