Turkey Fines Twitch Over 2021 Data Breach Impacting Streamers

Twitch faced a 2M lira fine after a 2021 data breach revealed streamer incomes and affected thousands of users in Turkey.

Twitch, the Amazon-owned streaming platform, has been fined 2 million Turkish lira (approximately $58,000 USD) by Turkey’s Personal Data Protection Board following a 2021 data breach that compromised sensitive user information. The incident, which revealed top streamers’ incomes and exposed a controversial “do not ban” list, affected 35,274 individuals in Turkey.
