US Court Upholds TikTok Ban, Forces ByteDance Divestment by January 2025

The US Court of Appeals has upheld the ban on TikTok, compelling ByteDance to sell its US operations, with the case set for appeal to the Supreme Court.

A key legal battle over TikTok’s future in the U.S. has intensified. On December 6, 2024, the US Court of Appeals upheld the federal ban on the app, which is set to take effect on January 19, 2024. The ruling mandates that TikTok’s parent company, ByteDance, must either divest from the company’s U.S. operations or risk having the app removed from Apple and Google’s app stores.
