TikTok creator Vexbolts concluded 2024 with a massive live stream labeled as his “funeral,” pulling in a staggering 996,200 viewers on TikTok Live. The stream, which began at 11:45 pm on December 31, marked the culmination of a viral “mass unfollow” campaign aimed at leaving him behind in the old year.
The “Let him cook” meme creator initially faced an online movement to unfollow his account, but instead of losing momentum, Vexbolts gained 7 million followers in a matter of days. Even YouTube star MrBeast joined the campaign, contributing to a sharp drop in Vexbolts’ followers once the new year began.
However, his TikTok audience surged during the final minutes of 2024, making the broadcast one of the most-watched TikTok Live events ever.
Not limited to TikTok, Vexbolts also streamed his “funeral” on Twitch, where he saw a dramatic spike in viewership. According to Twitchtracker, his peak viewer count reached 12,227, a stark increase compared to his earlier streams.
As of now, Vexbolts has over 3 million followers on TikTok—double his count before the viral campaign. It remains uncertain if the creator will follow through with the meme’s premise and abstain from posting throughout 2025.
