Walmart Will Raise Prices Due to Tariff Costs

Eduardo Munoz Alvarez/AP
Walmart is preparing for higher prices as tariffs from the Trump administration remain steep. CFO John David Rainey told CNBC that consumers will likely see price increases starting later this month, with even bigger hikes coming in June. While Walmart and its suppliers will absorb some costs, the scale of tariffsâon goods from countries like China, Mexico, and Vietnamâis too large to avoid passing on to shoppers.
CEO Doug McMillon echoed this during Walmartâs recent earnings call, saying that even with reduced tariffs, the companyâs tight margins mean they canât absorb all the added costs. As a result, customers should expect to pay more at checkout soon.

PlayStation 5 Price Hike Could be Next Due to Tariffs

Charles Sims
Sonyâs CFO, Lin Tao, warned that the price of the PlayStation 5 could rise again due to tariffs between China and the U.S. During their quarterly earnings, Tao explained theyâre managing a cost impact of about 100 billion yen (roughly $512 million), which might lead to higher prices for customers and changes in shipment allocation.
Rather than just calculating simple tariffs, Sony is closely watching market trends and exploring different ways to handle these costs. With such a significant amount to cover, itâs likely gamers could see the PS5 getting more expensive soon.
